1. Warranty Coverage

RUGGEDTAB warrants that the hardware products listed below will be free from defects in materials and workmanship when used normally and in accordance with the product's published specifications and instructions.

The warranty period begins on the date of the original purchase by the end user.

Product / Component Warranty Period
RUGGEDTAB Hardware As specified on the product page or invoice
Battery 1 year
Additional AC Adapter / Power Cord 1 year
Battery Charger 1 year
Detachable Keyboard 1 year
Office Docking Station 1 year
Vehicle Docking Station 1 year
Hard Drive / SSD 1 year
Spare Parts 30 days

Where a product-specific warranty period differs from the above, the warranty period stated on the product page, quotation or invoice will apply.

2. What the Warranty Covers

If a covered hardware defect occurs during the applicable warranty period, RUGGEDTAB may, at its discretion and subject to your legal rights:

  • Repair the product using new or refurbished parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability; or
  • Replace the product with the same model or, where agreed, a product with substantially similar functionality.

A repaired or replacement product will generally be covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

Replacement parts or products become the customer's property, while the replaced parts or products become the property of RUGGEDTAB.

3. What the Warranty Does Not Cover

This Limited Warranty does not cover problems caused by:

  • Accidental damage, misuse, abuse or neglect
  • Failure to follow the product's operating or care instructions
  • Use outside the product's published specifications
  • Unauthorised modification, repair, upgrade or alteration
  • Opening or disassembling the product where this causes the fault
  • Use of incompatible third-party components or accessories where they cause the problem
  • Fire, flood, earthquake, lightning or other external events
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality, including scratches, dents or normal deterioration
  • Consumable items or accessories not specifically covered by this warranty
  • Damage caused by improper installation, mounting or connection
  • Loss or damage to data, software or removable media

The warranty does not cover software. Software supplied with a RUGGEDTAB product may be subject to separate licence terms or support arrangements.

4. Rugged Product Protection

RUGGEDTAB products are designed for demanding environments and may have specific ratings for water, dust, drops, vibration, temperature or other environmental conditions.

These ratings apply only when the product is used within its published specifications and with all required protective covers, seals and accessories correctly fitted.

Rugged construction does not mean the product is indestructible. Damage resulting from use outside the product's specified operating conditions may not be covered by this warranty.

5. Batteries

Rechargeable batteries are consumable components and their capacity naturally decreases with normal use and charging cycles.

Battery replacement under this warranty applies where the battery has a covered manufacturing defect during the applicable warranty period. Normal reduction in battery capacity caused by use and ageing is not considered a manufacturing defect.

6. Customer Responsibilities

Before sending a product to us for service, you should:

  • Back up all data stored on the product
  • Remove confidential, personal or proprietary information where possible
  • Remove SIM cards, memory cards and other removable media unless we specifically request that they remain installed
  • Remove passwords or security restrictions that would prevent us from accessing or testing the product, where appropriate
  • Package the product securely to prevent further damage during transport

Rugged Tablets NZ and RUGGEDTAB are not responsible for data that is lost, corrupted or inaccessible during warranty service.

Warranty service may require storage media to be reset, replaced or reformatted.

Customers are responsible for maintaining their own backups.

7. Warranty Service

All warranty claims must be authorised by Rugged Tablets NZ before the product is returned.

To request warranty service, contact us using the details below and provide:

  • Proof of purchase
  • Product model
  • Serial number
  • Description of the fault
  • Contact and delivery details

If the claim appears to be covered, we will issue a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number and provide return instructions.

Products returned without an RMA number may be delayed or returned to the sender.

8. Shipping for Warranty Service

Unless otherwise agreed, the customer is responsible for the cost of sending the product to Rugged Tablets NZ for warranty assessment.

Where a warranty claim is confirmed as covered, Rugged Tablets NZ will normally cover the reasonable cost of returning the repaired or replacement product to the customer within New Zealand.

International customers may be responsible for return freight, customs charges, duties and taxes unless otherwise agreed.

We will advise you of any applicable costs before proceeding where reasonably practicable.

9. Assessment of Warranty Claims

All returned products will be assessed to determine whether the reported fault is covered by this warranty.

If the fault is not covered, we will advise you before undertaking any chargeable repair work, where reasonably practicable.

A diagnostic or assessment fee may apply where a product is found not to have a covered fault, provided this fee has been disclosed and agreed before the assessment or repair proceeds.

10. Repair Times

We will make reasonable efforts to complete warranty repairs as promptly as possible.

Repair times may vary depending on the nature of the fault, availability of replacement parts and whether the product needs to be returned to the manufacturer.

Where a repair cannot reasonably be completed, we may offer an appropriate replacement or other remedy.

11. Consumer Rights

This Limited Warranty operates alongside, and does not replace, any rights you may have under New Zealand law.

For consumers purchasing products for personal, domestic or household use, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) may provide additional rights and remedies, including repair, replacement or refund where applicable. These rights apply independently of this manufacturer's warranty.

Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

12. Business Customers

Where a product is purchased by a business for business or commercial use, the applicable rights and remedies may depend on the terms of the sale and any written agreement between the parties.

Where permitted by law, a business transaction may expressly contract out of the Consumer Guarantees Act. Any such agreement must be made in writing and satisfy the applicable legal requirements.

Nothing in this warranty is intended to remove rights that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Manufacturer's Warranty

This Limited Warranty is provided in addition to any other rights or warranties expressly provided with the product.

Where a separate manufacturer warranty applies to a particular product, that warranty may contain additional terms or coverage. The applicable warranty will be identified on the product page, quotation, invoice or accompanying documentation where relevant.

14. Limitation of Warranty

To the extent permitted by law, this Limited Warranty applies only to the RUGGEDTAB hardware and components specifically identified in this warranty.

Nothing in this warranty excludes or limits liability, rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited under New Zealand law.

15. Changes to This Warranty

RUGGEDTAB may update this warranty from time to time. The version applicable to your product will generally be the version in effect at the time of purchase, unless otherwise required by law.
